Mosaic Service planned

Mosaic Service

Western Avenue Ministries has scheduled a Mosaic Service for Sunday, April 28 at 5:00 pm.  It is called Mosaic because we hope to have different classes of people, of different colors, and different tastes come together to create something new and beautiful.  There will be dynamic worship music, heart-felt group and individual prayers and a short, focused and inspirational teaching.  This is a great way to wrap up a weekend and prepare for the busy week ahead.  Western Avenue Ministries is located at 1411 Broadway, Toledo.

Finally Alive

Finally Alive
By John Piper

The term ‘born again’ is very precious and very crucial in the Bible.  And the main concern of this book is to know what God intends when the Bible uses this language, so that by His grace we may experience it and help others do the same.  It is of enormous consequence that we know what being born again really means.  Check it out!

desire-and-deceit

Desire and Deceit: The Real Cost of the New Sexual Tolerance
By Albert Mohler

We are reminded every day that assumptions about what is right and wrong sexually are different today than they were fifty—or even ten—years ago.  Christian principles that formed the pattern for generations of American families are conspicuously absent.  What happened and why?  How do we respond to the dramatic shift in our culture’s perspective on sex?  From one of the sharpest Christian minds today.   Check it out!

The Rare Jewel of Christian ContentmentChristian-Contentment
By Jeremiah Burroughs

Jeremiah Burroughs doesn’t mince words in this 400-year-old gem.  In The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment, Mr. Burroughs addresses the basic problems of human suffering and discontent.  More than that, he offers a timeless and tested solution.  True contentment, he suggests is achieved by subtraction rather than addition; surrender rather than struggle.  Contentment helps in the battle against temptation, prepares the Christian for service, and brings comfort no matter how bleak the current outlook might be.  Check it out!

From Daniel Kain…Once a year, at Easter, we remember the miraculous power of God raising His Son Jesus from the dead.  For the follower of Jesus, it is the reminder of our hope that the same power will raise us up to eternity in His presence, when our life is through.  But, Resurrection Power can have an impact in our lives every day of the week.  Come for Sunday Worship Service at 10:30 am.

9:00 am – Remembrance Service (communion)
10:00 am – 10:30 am – Fellowship time
10:30 am – 11:30 am – Worship Service
(There will be no Sunday School on Easter)

Counterfeit Gods: The Empty Promises of Money, Sex and Power, and the Only Hope that Matters

Child Abuse Prevention Workshop

Child Abuse Prevention Workshop

On Sunday, April 14, the Children’s Ministry will be holding a Child Abuse Prevention Workshop.  This is not a mandatory meeting, but if you are a ministry leader, teacher or helper of any age who is involved with children in any way, we’re asking you to attend this workshop.  It’s important to understand the kind of risks we face today in our effort to protect both ourselves and the children under our care.  The workshop will be held downstairs in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the Sunday School hour and will last approximately 2 hours.  Lunch and childcare will be provided.  Please RSVP to Shawn Hudak by April 7 if you plan to attend so enough food can be provided (both for you and your children).
